Woodblock Carving Process Post #1

matildafrantz25

Last class I made a lot of progress with the depth of my wood carving, and defined more of the sharp edges that I need to achieve the final product. Going forward, I'm think I'm going to need to slow down my carving a lot especially in areas with smaller details, as right now I often accidentally carve out big chunks where I didn't mean to. This hasn't been a huge issue so far because it has sped up the process of carving, but I've already made mistakes like carve off entire layers of the limbs, which could become an issue once I carve in deeper. I branched out last class with different kinds of tools though, and I think that using them will help me gain more control.
