This week I began adding marks to my self-portrait while trying to emulate John William Waterhouse's style. I began by drawing the leg so that I would be able to practice before moving on to another area, and I worked with chalk pastel, which is what I used to draw the less detailed areas in my Artist Copy.
Because Waterhouse draws so lightly, I struggled with figuring out how to draw darker areas without losing parts of his style, but I'm hoping that with more practice I'll be able to find a good balance. I also want to find a balance between drawing very loose, gestural lines, and making sure that I'm still conveying form well.
