On Monday, we went to see the Scholastic Art Awards show at the Visual Arts Center. I was able to find inspiration in many of the pieces being displayed. There was a lot of work covering topics of memory and culture, and I liked being able to see how expressive they all were. The pieces very clearly showed their content, which I want to achieve. I was also inspired by all of the mixed media in the exhibit, especially the work with embroidery. I love the idea of incorporating buttons and embroidery into paintings, and hope to explore it more at some point.
This was one of my favorite pieces in the show. It has both mixed media elements and ideas of memory I want to portray in my own work.
