After finishing up figure drawing with Tommy and buying materials from Plaza, we've started working on our first in-class projects. I'm doing a watercolor piece of an old family photo with similar themes as the heart piece I did over the summer. It took me a while to figure out how I want my composition to look, but I decided to combine aspects of two images to make it more interesting. So far, I've started on the clouds and a little land. I chose a warmer toned paper because I wanted a more muted look in my piece, but I've had a few issues with the paper that I might not have had if I used white watercolor paper. I think that my paper will still work fine though. I also struggled a little with the clouds, especially with layering as I often paint too much too quickly. I like how some parts of my piece with muted layers look, so I want to try implementing that more. Below is my progress picture from day 3.
