For my home project, I decided I wanted to draw a still life to add to my portfolio. I wanted to create something with a cozy, homey feel that also an underlying theme. I decided to draw some teacups from a thrift store that still had the tags on them, to convey a message of items being loved then given away then loved again. I like that I can emphasize the message of new homes because there are houses on the cups. I also decided to lay them on top of a fabric with stripes, as I wanted to experiment with drawing fabric folds and using both straight and curved lines in my composition. With this idea, I started taking and cropping pictures of my cups to experiment with composition and things like shadows. I then experimented with colored pencils, which I want to use for the final piece, to get a rough idea of what direction I want to go. Below is the reference photo that I think I might use as a compositional guide, and the planning I did.
