In order to become an art therapist, you have to have a bachelor's degree in a field relavent to the profession. Some art therapists have degrees in Art Therapy, although many colleges do not offer this major. A double major in both studio art and psychology are recommended for this profession.
Many schools across the US offer great programs in both art and psychology. In Virginia, VCU has a great arts school and psychology program. Washington and Lee also offers high quality education in the arts and in psychology.
