When looking at careers in the art field, I decided to focus on jobs which require an Art History degree, as that is a field I'm passionate about and may pursue in the future. I was the most interested in the role of art curators, and chose to research the job more.
Art curators work in museums to curate and install exhibits. They often specialize in specific kinds of art and work to build collections of these works in the museum. They also work to educate the public about different works, through things like presentations and publications. A bachelor's degree and master's degree in Art History or the fine arts are often required to become an art curator. The average yearly salaray for this position in Virginia is around $70,000.
James Madison University, University of Richmond, and VCU all have strong Art History departments. Outside of Virginia, RISD and and the Insitute of Fine Art at NYU are also well known and respected for Fine Arts degrees.
